The Hive is a warm and cosy space to host a memorable event, where your party can each create a unique keepsake that can last a lifetime.

NOTE: If you do not want to book the entire space, or an entire table privately, please go to the normal booking page.

Studio Capacity

  • We have a Table of 8 and a Table of 4 available to seat up to 12 painters.

  • The studio is small, the size of two shipping containers, so there is little to no space to accommodate things like a table of gifts, or party food.

  • We can not seat more than 12 people.

  • If you have a full party of 12 painters, there is very little space left for any extra people to circulate or supervise. If, for example, you are booking a full party of 12 children and will have parents joining, I would advise a limit of no more than 3 adults supervising, else space becomes challenging.

Deposits

  • Deposits are calculated at £10 per seat.

  • For painters, this covers their £5 studio fee, and £5 towards their choice of pottery. For unused seats, this £10 serves as a cumulative service charge to rent the unused space privately, or as a cancellation fee for no shows.

  • Deposits are non-refundable

  • All additional costs are settled at the end of the arranged session.

  • If you would like to fully pre-pay for studio fees & pottery, this can be arranged.

During opening hours, deposits are calculated as follows:

  • Book 12 seats to book the entire space. (£120)

  • Book 8 seats to book the entire table of 8. (£80)

  • Book 4 seats to book the entire table of 4. (£40)

Outside of opening hours, deposits are calculated as follows:

  • A minimum booking of 6 painters (£60)

  • An additional £10 per painter/guest, up to a maximum of 12 (£120)

  • An additional fee of £45 to cover staffing costs

Duration

  • All painting slots are two hours long, and you must arrive and leave promptly.

  • If you would like to hire the space for longer than two hours, additional time is calculated as follows:

    • £15 for half an hour

    • £25 for an hour

    • £45 for two hours

  • If your group stays over 15 minutes past your allotted time, a £15 charge will apply.

Decor

  • If booking the whole space, or a whole table privately, you are welcome to bring decor such as balloons with you.

  • We do have rainbow coloured bunting, hanging fans, and table flowers available to use free of charge.

Pottery & Pricing guide

  • All painters pay a £5 studio fee, plus the cost of their chosen piece of pottery.

  • Most pieces start at £15, so this means the price per head usually starts at £20.

  • Examples of pottery at £15: Mugs, Side Plates and Cereal Bowls

  • If you would like to pre-choose pottery for your event, you must request a ‘Pottery Order Form’ and submit this at least two weeks prior to the event so pottery can be safely ordered in time.

  • If you would like to order pottery to meet a specific theme, this may be possible, so let us know in the ‘Event description’ section of the order form what you are looking for and we can find a selection of options that can be ordered.

Food & Drink

  • We have Bird & Blend loose leaf tea available to purchase, as well as a range of Cawston Press canned and carton drinks.

  • Food is prohibited due to health and safety around glazes, and due to the fact that grease on fingers will affect the piece you are painting.

  • We do make allowances for cakes, and can provide plates and a knife for cutting. This must be consumed after painting has concluded, and the time for this must be budgeted within your two hour slot.

  • If booking the whole space, or a whole table privately, you are welcome to bring your own drinks, and we have glasses and a corkscrew available to use in the studio.

  • If you would like to move forward with an enquiry about booking a private event, and have special arrangements you need to discuss with management, please complete the form below.

  • If you do not wish to book anything privately, or want to book a table to yourself during opening hours and do not need to discuss any special arrangements with management, simply book the amount of seats for the table size of your choice through the booking page.
