Update from The Hive Makerspace: 24/10/25

Thank you so much for your extraordinary patience and understanding while The Hive has been closed due to medical leave. This temporary closure was longer than expected, and no operations or updates were possible at all during this time, so we are so grateful and incredibly humbled by your ongoing support, and could not be reopening without the graciousness and consideration you have so kindly shown us.

Before we closed:

In the weeks before medical leave was enforced, all the pottery at the studio was fired, checked, bagged, and made available for collection at The Shack Revolution by available helpers, with the exception of a few pieces that needed to be refired, and therefore had to wait until operations continued.

We are now resuming operations at the Hive and are assessing the pottery still in our possession, which includes:

  • Pottery uncollected from Shack Revolution

  • Pottery that needed refiring

Uncollected Pottery:

Notifications to collect pottery from Shack Revolution were originally sent by text; we believe some texts may not have been received, and instructions of texts to collections that involved a refired item were miscommunicated to helpers, so instructions to collect the ready and bagged fired items, and then only be waiting for the refired items, were not sent.

Refiring:

Items that needed refiring have now been fired and are ready to collect, with the exception of a handful of items that were not added by helpers to the original refire list, and on review need to be refired. In this case, they will be added to the first kiln load as operations resume over the next few weeks.

Communication:

Please note our phone number was disabled during the period of medical leave, so any messages sent during this time were not received, and we apologise for any messages that have gone unheard. Due to ongoing issues of not all sent texts being received in the past, we have decided to discontinue using this number and are looking into alternative options. In the meantime, you can reach us via Instagram, Facebook, and email.

Note: Please ensure if contacting us by email, that you have added our email to a safe senders list.

Next steps:

  • All customers of uncollected pottery will be contacted before the end of October

  • Bookings will initially reopen from 31st October, with limited hours available over the next few weeks, before building to a new normal.

  • Any other outstanding business from the previous year is currently being reviewed, and will be actioned before the end of October.

Again, thank you so much to all my wonderful customers, you are bee-utiful. 🐝
